# Notifications

> Your inbox for fired alerts, failed runs, finished backtests and anything waiting on your approval, and the settings that also send them to your email.

## Open the inbox

**Notifications** is your inbox. Open it with the bell at the bottom of the sidebar, above your avatar, or at [app.orbitalaip.com/notifications](https://app.orbitalaip.com/notifications). There is no separate Alerts page: the `/alerts` address opens Notifications.

The inbox is yours alone. It holds notifications from every [project](https://orbitalaip.com/docs/glossary#project) in the current [workspace](https://orbitalaip.com/docs/glossary#workspace).

## Read the list

Four tabs filter the inbox: **All**, **Unread**, **Archived** and **Deleted**.

Click a row to read it in the reading pane; a Trade notice opens Trade instead. Clicking a row, or moving onto it with the arrow keys, marks it read. While anything is unread, the header also shows a **Mark all as read** icon.

The **Filters** icon narrows the list by symbol, severity and tag. The filters search what has loaded, so scroll to search further back.

## The reading pane

**Message** holds the full text, and **Source** names the alert, workflow and project it came from, where each is known.

An agent-led alert adds **Why (agent reasoning)**, **Confidence** and an expandable **Raw verdict**, if it fired in the project you have open. A threshold alert adds **Condition**, with the rule and the actual value.

When a notification was also sent to a destination, **Delivery** lists each one with its status, **pending**, **sent**, **failed** or **skipped**, and any error. **skipped** means nothing was sent and it will not be retried, because the destination was turned off or deleted, or its provider is not set up.

The button at the top of the pane goes to the source. A fired alert shows **Open run**, which opens its workflow on that run, and a Trade notice shows **Open in Trade**. The billing notice has no button. Everything else shows **Open**, which goes to the workflow, the backtest's result or the agent.

## Archive, delete and restore

1. **Select rows**

Hover a row and tick the box that replaces its dot.

2. **Pick an action**

In **All** and **Unread**, the bar that replaces the tabs offers **Mark as read**, **Archive** and **Delete**. In **Archived** it offers **Move to inbox** and **Delete**. In **Deleted** it offers **Restore** and **Delete permanently**.

3. **Undo if you need to**

**Archive** and **Delete** each show a message with **Undo**.

Deleted notifications stay under **Deleted** for 30 days. You restore them from that tab, not from **Trash** in Settings. **Delete permanently** asks **Delete permanently?** first, also removes the delivery records, and cannot be undone.

## What each category holds

Every notification files under one of five categories, which are also the rows of your delivery settings.

| Category | What lands there |
| --- | --- |
| Alerts | An Alert node fired, in a workflow or an agent's run. |
| Automations | A scheduled automation stopped and will not restart, or an automation waits for your approval. Held trades, unanswered exits, deployments that paused themselves and agent approval requests file here too. |
| Workflow runs | A workflow run failed, or a backtest finished, was cancelled or failed. |
| Agent runs | An agent run failed, or an agent's task finished, got stuck, used its budget or paused. |
| Billing | Auto-reload stopped buying credits at the workspace's monthly ceiling. |

Each notification goes to one person, such as whoever started the run, deployed the strategy or created the agent. The billing notice goes to the workspace owner.

## Trade approvals

A held trade sends **Approval needed:** or **Approval needed to exit:** to whoever deployed it, and the row opens Trade on **Activity**, where you answer. **Exit placed for you**, **Your exit could NOT be placed** and **Deployment paused:** notices open Trade the same way. See [Where approvals arrive](https://orbitalaip.com/docs/trade/approvals-and-permissions#where-approvals-arrive).

## Agent approval requests

When an agent asks for approval outside a person's own conversation with it, its creator gets **Approval needed:** and the card's title, with an **Answer by** time in UTC; **Open** goes to the agent. See [Permissions and approvals](https://orbitalaip.com/docs/agents/permissions-and-approvals#answer-a-held-action).

## Where notifications are delivered

The settings card **Where notifications reach you** reads **Your inbox always gets everything. These add a channel on top.**

1. **Open the settings**

Click your avatar and choose **Notifications** under **Account**, or go to [app.orbitalaip.com/settings/notifications](https://app.orbitalaip.com/settings/notifications).

2. **Find the category's row**

Its picker already shows **In-app**, which is always selected and cannot be removed.

3. **Add a destination**

Choose one of your destinations in the picker. The change saves at once. If it fails, **Routing not saved** appears and your previous routing stays in effect.

Routing is yours alone, and each workspace keeps its own. An Alert node can also name destinations of its own, added on top of your routing. See [Where an alert goes](https://orbitalaip.com/docs/alerts-and-notifications/alerts-from-workflows#where-an-alert-goes).

### Your destinations

**Where we can reach you** lists your destinations. A **shared** badge marks one the whole workspace uses; only workspace owners and admins can change it.

Orbital creates **My account email** for you, sending to your account's address. It starts out waiting 5 minutes to combine messages, and sends at most 12 an hour. A Telegram destination, if your account has one, is listed too. To message Orbital from your own Telegram destination, see [Chat from your phone](https://orbitalaip.com/docs/chat/documents-and-web#chat-from-your-phone). You cannot add a new destination from this page.

**Test** sends a test message and reports **Test message sent**, **Skipped** or **Test failed**. **Edit** lets you rename a destination, change its address and set its **Pacing**:

- **When several arrive together**: **Send immediately**, or a wait from **Wait 30 seconds and combine** to **Wait 1 hour and combine**.

- **Most messages per hour**: blank means no limit. Over the limit, messages are held and combined into the next one. Nothing is dropped.

A combined message is titled with the count and any critical ones, such as "3 new alerts · 1 critical".

To remove a destination:

1. **Open its edit pane**

   Click **Edit** on its row.

2. **Delete it**

Under **Delete this channel**, press **Delete**, then **Delete channel**.

Delivery stops at once. The destination moves to **Trash** and is deleted permanently after 30 days.
