What it does

Reads one strategy. Claude uses it for a strategy's versions and recent runs, and for its graph before an edit. The graph comes back as the nodes and connections spec that update_strategy takes, together with the version_hash a save needs, so a save Claude has not seen is never overwritten. For a run's full result it uses get_backtest.

It takes the strategy id, not the workflow id. Ids come from list_strategies or from a create receipt. The record carries the strategy's newest 25 versions and its newest 10 runs as tables with a total, and the newest run's Sharpe deflation.

It needs the read permission, which every connection has. Every project role may call it, a viewer included.

One caveat: a config value longer than 400 characters is clipped in the read and marked as clipped. A Program node is served whole, so its source can be read back, changed and rebuilt. A graph over 60 nodes is cut at 60, and the note says so.

Parameters

ParameterTypeRequiredDescription
strategy_idstringyesThe strategy id, a UUID. Not the workflow id.Example: 0193c2a1-5b7e-7f10-9c3d-2a6b8e4f1d07

What comes back

  • strategy: the record: id, name, status (draft, tested, paper or retired), workflowId, parameters, the Workflow with its id, name and type, strategyArm, periodBound, versions, runs and deflation.
  • versions: total, configurationCount and rows of version, changeNote, runCount and bestSharpe, newest first, up to 25.
  • runs: total and rows of id, version, parameters, status, cagr_pct, sharpe, max_drawdown_pct, trades, window and created, newest first, up to 10. Run ids feed get_backtest.
  • deflation: the newest run's Sharpe read against the search that produced it: the raw figure, the configuration count and the deflated figure, or the reason there is none.
  • nodes: each node's id, type, label and config.
  • connections: each edge's from, to, fromPort and toPort.
  • version_hash: the hash of the stored graph. update_strategy takes it back as base_version_hash.
  • declared_parameters: the knobs the strategy declares, by name. Empty when it declares none.
  • note: present only when the graph was cut at 60 nodes.
  • disclaimer: the backtest disclaimer, word for word.
