What a watchlist is

A watchlist is a named list of symbols in the order you choose, with current prices. A list belongs to one project. Workflows, dashboards and Chat can all use it.

Each row can carry a coloured flag, and each symbol a note that every list in the project shares. See Notes and flags.

Watchlists is an app, on in every project by default. If the page reads Watchlists is turned off in this project, click Manage apps in Settings; nothing was deleted. See Apps.

The Watchlists page

Open Watchlists in the sidebar. Each list is a card. Drag its header to move it, or its bottom-right corner to resize it. The layout is saved in this browser only. The page header holds the All and Archived filters, which a narrow window hides.

To create a list:

  1. Click Create watchlist

  2. Name it

    Type a Watchlist name.

  3. Click Create

    A new, empty card appears.

Click a card's name to rename it. Click the star (Set as default) on another card to make that list your default; it then shows DEFAULT.

Add and remove symbols

  1. Open the picker

Click Add symbol (the + in the card header), or right-click any row and choose Add symbol.

  2. Search

Type a ticker or company name in Symbol, ISIN, or CUSIP; ISIN and CUSIP numbers find nothing. The Stocks, Crypto and Forex tabs choose the market; the other tabs are not available. With the box empty, the picker lists your RECENT symbols for that tab.

  3. Add

Click a result, or press Enter for the highlighted one; the picker stays open. Shift+Enter adds and closes. A symbol already on the list is greyed out and marked already added.

To remove a symbol, hover over its row and click the × at the right edge. There is no confirmation. To copy a symbol to another list, right-click its row, choose Add NVDA to watchlist and pick the list.

A list holds at most 200 symbols, not counting section headers. On a full list the picker adds nothing and shows no message.

Sections

A section is a header inside a list. The rows under it, down to the next header, belong to it.

  1. Add it

Click Add section in the card header, or right-click a row and choose it. A header titled NEW SECTION appears at the bottom.

  2. Name it

Double-click the title, type a name and press Enter.

  3. Fill it

    Drag rows under it.

Click the title or its chevron to collapse or expand it; the state is saved. The × on a header deletes only the header, with no confirmation. Its symbols join the section above, or the top of the list when there is none.

Columns and display options

The table shows Symbol, Last, Chg and Chg%, plus Vol when volume is on. Prices refresh about every 20 seconds.

Click a column header to sort: descending first, then ascending, then back to your own order. While a sort is on, sections are hidden and rows cannot be dragged.

Click ⋯ to open the view options:

  • Table view off shows the symbols as ticker chips, without sections.
  • CUSTOMIZE COLUMNS turns Last, Change, Change % and Volume on or off. Volume is off by default. Extended Hours is not available.
  • SYMBOL DISPLAY has a Logo checkbox that shows or hides the company logo. Its Symbol and Name choices do not change the rows.
  • Archive and Delete sit at the bottom.

View choices are per card and reset when you leave the page, open Archived or set a default list.

Archive and delete

Both sit under ⋯ and ask you to confirm. Archive keeps every symbol and never expires. The Archived filter lists archived lists, each with Unarchive and Delete.

Delete moves the list to Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days. See Trash.

If a workflow updates the list, both dialogs name it and warn that it will fail on its next run. See Disconnect, archive and delete.

Watchlists in Chat

Chat works with the lists in the thread's project, but not archived ones. Every change is a proposal card you Apply or Discard; nothing changes until you click, unless your message says to go ahead. See Proposals and approvals. When the Watchlists app is off in a project, Chat has no watchlist tools there.
